day thirty
it was one of those, "i know it's 3:00...but can you brew a fresh pot?" kind of days, as most sundays are. this day was created for us to relax. renew. refresh. here we are praying our son takes an extra long nap so we can catch up on our grown up shows that involve little to no animation. today wasn't one of those sundays. hence the afternoon brew.

here is molly, the cat from ireland. my sister smuggled her back after the cat befriended my sister and her husband while they were livig in northern ireland for year. this was five years ago. the cat came back with my sister and has been here ever since. molly now resides with my parents who, when go on trips, leave molly with me. this look remains constant on her face, looking as if she is planning her great escape.

day twenty.two
there's something unknown and kind of dirty that creeps up from the deepest pit of my stomach when i go to a hockey game. the thirst for watching someone else in pain. i've only been to a few but those that i've been to i have found myself, among others around me, craving the sheer insanity of gloves smacking to the ice and fists being thrown. this was our first hockey game as a family thanks to the generosity of our friends. i loved watching my son's eyes wander about the arena feeling the static energy in the air around us, soaking in every drop

it's amazes me how something so cold and stiff as ice can be strong enough to walk upon yet be so vulnerable to the sun's warmth it begins to dissolve in a moment's notice. i'm reminded of psalm 147:18 {the msg} "...who can survive his winter? [God] gives the command and it all melts; he breathes on winter—suddenly it's spring!"

as i attempt to crochet a mitten for what looks like a mutant hand i imagine how
our heavenly father has woven each and every one of us. and how perfect the product is every time. he carefully contemplates the perfect colors of yarn to purl together praying a special word into each simple stitch. every stitch illustrates our character, passions, successes, weaknesses, hungers and loves. GOD's hands gently pulls the yarn over and through and shapes us in his image. i don't live up to his image everyday but as i look into the mirror each morning at those tired achy eyes i believe that what i see is what GOD desired me to be.

day eleven
the calm before the storm. snow will fall as we wake tomorrow. i am anxious to step out into the white and breath in the fresh. to see these branches and fence posts struggle to uphold piles of new wet snow. to pull on the gloves and rubber boots to handle the shovel and hear the scrape scrape. a refreshing of our current winter is coming. and now we lie in wait, eyes turned upward as the sky darkens each new moment.

day nine
yep. it's 4:04 pm and i'm still garbed in pajamas and slippers. it's just that kind of grungy day. son will not stop coughing so why bother getting in the shower to go to church? husband had impromptu bible reading and song singing around warm cups of coffee and chilled smoothie. movies have been on all day, very little play is going on and who knows if we will venture out when the sun goes down.

day seven
the piano computer desk is gone thus enters a desk that caters to a three and a half year old's stature. mr. bear lies in wait to be held once again. bills neatly stacked. notes jotted on the wall. coupons printed. days being marked off as we live in anticipation of another tomorrow. this is our new normal. tv is off, mom is on her laptop in another room. life is nice.

day five
time to dust off the old black and white keys and dismantle. we've had this piano in our office for five years now. it was eternally out of tune. even a professional could not redeem its musical qualities (for cheap anyway). so my husband converted it into a computer desk. but now i want it gone, so i got rid of it. wasn't easy but i rose to the challenge, with the help of my three year old and we took enough of it apart to move the beast onto to porch. this is a shot of the piano before we dismembered it.

day one
a new year....a new project
i'm throwing myself on the bandwagon that is quickly becoming popular. plus i'm a little bored and need something to do. for the year 2011 i will be posting a photo, taken by me, every day. seems easy, but i can see how this will become a challenge as slothness comes easy. i enjoy focusing on a beautiful creation whether it be my son or the world around me. may god's glory be revealed through my photos.
