day two hundred seventy.two

it has been one month since the first day of school. despite being driven to tears twice already i absolutely love it. my favorite time of the day is first thing in the morning when i walk into a sleeping building and the classroom is ready to shelter its students. the sun streams in just so and brings delight to a new day.

do not know if it is fortunate or not but my classroom is lined with windows which look out onto the brand new playground. once in a while i catch our son playing out there. today he was on, what we dubbed, 'the puker'

we went to a place in massachusetts called 'battleship cove.' it is just that. a cove at which three battleships and one submarine are docked. it was hot and humid but worth the day long grin our son had on his face. to see more photos go here.

our routine has transformed to one where i rarely have the time or energy to cook let alone shop for groceries to perform such deed. despite the nauseating headache {a gift from my class today} this is one of those nights where i attempt to prepare a meal. by the time it was done i had no appetite.

i am also lacking energy to take interesting pictures, thus one of white flour. the camera was in the kitchen and i snapped away.

we like to think our home is built upon the Rock. the Rock that is higher than you or me. the Rock that only strengthens when storms weather. there is only three of us and yet it seems impossible to dine together. but when we do we remember the Rock beneath us and open His Word to hear what need to be spoken.

we are knee deep into the routine of school. the daily emptying of bags and folders and lunch boxes has become ritual. finally the crisp fall air is breathed in and comfort sets in for my teacher self and my student son. and for my husband who also has to adjust his morning routine to getting our son fed, dressed and prepped for school. on time.

to study God's word. with intent and care. it's been a long time since i took part in something like this. i have the honor to study God's word through beth moore with about twelve other women in my church. women i see every week but never really talk to. i look forward to see what is holding me in bondage and i need to break free from and to grow closer to these beautiful women.

our city hosted a train show to which we went. in laws and all. our son loved it, but probably not as much as grandpa!

with new camera in hand we ventured out to watch our son have all sorts of energy sucking fun at a local church's soccer field. plenty of bouncy contraptions at hand and our son climbed into them all. while i wish it was my son i caught doing a split in the air i like this picture. you can see more from today on my flickr page.

first six days of teaching are done. i am beyond exhausted. energy comes from somewhere and is poured out every day. this is what i love. and i forgot that. despite the sweat {from ill-tempered classroom} and tears {out of sheer exhaustion} i am so happy to walk in each morning feeling like i have something to inscribe up sixteen hearts and minds.

this photo was taken by our blogger of the week. yes. our class has a blog, too.

corban. i miss you. it's been four months and if things had gone as i wanted you would be born a month from now, not four months ago. and then lost. i wear this to feel always you against my chest.

"when all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened" luke 3.21. i like to think heaven opens wide for everyone who proclaims their faith in this act called baptism

we have pumpkins growing in the compost pile. one of them grew through the chain link fence and up a small tree. it is now dangling in effort to survive.

i am finally getting a new, nice camera! i think i am going to enjoy the micro four -thirds style as opposed to the clunky dslrs out there.
